Santa Claus is a man of habit. He spends most of the year holed up in the North Pole preparing for Christmas. Christmas Eve is the most exciting day of the year to follow Santa Claus with our app. Santa also keeps busy on Christmas Day as long as he can stay awake. Here are some insider tips on what to expect this year. All times are local to you, wherever you are. 😉
Christmas Eve
- Santa will likely be working in his North Pole workshop overseeing toy production until the last minute. We think he will wrap up by around 5:00 pm on Christmas Eve.
- Santa will then return to his home (by reindeer of course).
- Starting around 5:30, Santa will likely make final adjustments to his naughty & nice list.
- Around 6:00 pm, Santa will enjoy a hearty meal to get his strength up for the big night.
- Next, Santa will prepare the reindeer fleet and load up the presents. This can take a while.
- By 8:00 pm, Santa should be on his way around the world. He may not be quite as easy to find while traversing the world.
Christmas Day
- By morning time, Santa Claus should have already dropped by your house.
- Santa will still be delivering presents to other corners of the world until late morning (your time).
- By 11:00 am on Christmas Day, Santa will be back at the North Pole for a Christmas Day celebration and parade.
- By mid-afternoon, Santa Claus will be getting drowsy from his sleepless night. Expect him to return home by reindeer and turn in early.
Where in the World is Santa Claus? has been available in English, Spanish, French, and German for some time now. We figured that covered a pretty large part of the world where Christmas and Santa Claus are celebrated. But since these languages miss some of the largest mobile app markets, and the good people on Elance make it so easy to do translations, why not give it a go in a few more languages? In particular, version 1.4 of the app is now available in Japanese, Chinese (traditional and simplified), and Russian!
Check out how each language looks in their respective iTunes screenshots. Each language brings its own unique visual style to the app. I never thought this app would look so exotic!
Where in the World is Santa Claus? has been sporting three shiny new languages (Japanese, Chinese, Russian) for about a week now. It has also been sporting upside-down screenshots. Today’s update keeps the languages and loses the screenshot gaffe. It also tweaks the sharing for Twitter and Facebook.
We will celebrate the new languages in a future post. Hint: the app looks beautiful in Japanese, even if you can’t read it.
The latest version of Where in the World is Santa Claus? introduces the app to three new languages: Japanese, Chinese, and Russian. This is the first language update since adding Spanish, German, and French. I guess we just like languages! (We can stop any time we want to.) Thanks to the great professionals on Elance for knocking out those translations.
The update also brought new and improved screenshots on the App Store. Actually, just new screenshots, not improved. (What is the opposite of improved?) We added some text to the screenshots, which looks fine when viewed in landscape mode. But it comes out upside-down when rotated for the App Store on the iPhone. Enjoy the goof while it lasts. Next we’ll be putting out a small update to the app’s social sharing feature, and with it… right-side-up screenshots.
Anything look off to you?
